Susan did a Master‘s degree in Greek in 1979, and after getting ESL training and teacher training, finally joined Wycliffe. She worked in various administrative and library roles in Indonesia and then in the Philippines. In 1997 she started her dream job helping the Behoa people in Indonesia to translate Scripture into their heart language. Later she helped start three more language projects. They all now have the New Testament.

In 2005, Susan facilitated the Old Testament translation for both the Behoa and Napu people as the languages are related. They now have completed about 50% of the Old Testament, and are working under Kartidaya. Although Susan is now back in New Zealand, she is still involved in the Old Testament translation with a role of checking the exegesis and grammar, and also being the final proofreader.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on our own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
