I work remotely from our home in NZ on a project in South East Asia. I use The Bible Translator's Assistant (TBTA), a specialist Bible translation software system, to build a grammar for the language. This innovative program uses semantic representations, where each sentence in the Bible is broken down into its meaningful words, and each word and phrase is marked with its language features. My role is writing the rules of the language so that the program can transform the semantic representations into a high quality first draft translation.
Previously, I studied Mathematics, Physics, Linguistics and TESOL. From there I spent 2 years living in South Korea, teaching English to middle school students. I enjoy using my skills and interest in how languages work to bring God's word to people in a way that makes sense to them.
I am married to Felicity. She runs her own business from our house in Tawa, Wellington, teaching cello and pre-school music classes. We have 3 children - Abigail is five and enjoys performing, whether singing, dancing, or playing an instrument; Renee is three and loves turtles, the Wiggles, and playing families with her friends (or her baby brother); and newborn Elliot is a chilled and smiley baby.
Ephesians 2:10 “We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
